Spiral Marketing Myth Buster:
Often enough you’ll find a really good piece of content that reaches tweeter heaven after having been retweeted more than enough times to make it famous! Ever wonder how that spiral marketing is done? How do you think national best sellers become best sellers? It’s because they sell the best, not because they are necessarily the best reading material on earth!
Many people will make the claim that they struggle with coming up with good spiral marketing, viral marketing content for their sites. Well, duh! It’s not about “build[ing] it and they will come”; it’s about building and selling your content right. This doesn’t mean you need to spend money, it means you need to market yourself and your content well! This is the essence of spiral marketing and viral marketing.
People get so caught up in this traditional way of thinking that is just baffles me! Often times I’ll catch myself writing or saying that if you want to get people to visit your site, you have to write well written material that meets a need. This is not completely accurate because even after you write your content, people won’t fall into your lap, much less come across your site!
Granted, you should be advised that great content does have a major part in all this. If your content is not good, how do you expect to keep them coming back?
Here are a few steps you should take in creating spiral marketing or viral marketing content movements:
Spiral Marketing and Viral Marketing Basics:
1. Plan out how you will market your product. On what social networks will you reach out to?
2. Once that list has been generated, you’ll need to make sure that you communicate with peeps that are talking about the same subject.
3. Find out what they are saying and DON’T repeat their content, come up with something unique! SEO your content.
4. Announce to those people, with whom you have built rapport, about what you have written and that you’d like their personal feedback.
5. Once you’ve had some great comments and some good feedback, make changes where needed.
6. Announce To all Social Network friends the awesome piece of literature that you’ve managed to create!
7. Sit back and enjoy the fame
You should remember that the greater your rapport with your social media connections the more response you’ll get when you do write a great piece of content! It never hurts to get acquainted with more folks either! Google will eat up your efforts and reward you if you do the SEO part correctly too!
If there is anything you should take from this article about. Spiral Marketing and Viral Marketing is the following: Content becomes famous Because It Sells Well, Not Because It’s Written Well!

Hey Andrew! Thanks for stopping by! I sure will keep you posted on this. I think its going to be the new up and coming deal in blog/content promotion if it hasn’t taken place yet. The closest thing to it, in my opinion, is Brians baby, Blog Engage.
Respectfully,
Tony Tovar

Tony,
Thanks for offering me to join but no thanks.
I’m currently a member of BlogEngage.com and we have a community that resembles this idea in some ways. The only difference that we don’t advocate the use of Digg.
IMHO, Digg is a waste of time. I’ve never received any significant traffic from Digg and most of the items that make the front page aren’t of any interest to me.
Here are two articles on the subject.

Now on the other hand, I have no problem retweeting any good tweets, so if I see them I will retweet them for you guys.
Please consider joining Blog Engage, the owner recently announced that he is sharing his Google Adsense Revenue with the members, now if that doesn’t convince you, I’m not sure what else will.
See you in Twitterville!

Hey! Yup. We are actually not going to do anything remotely like Blog Engage. I know Brian and love the dude. Have been following him since BE first started a few years back.
We are just a retweet group for spiral marketing. However, I do agree about Digg though, but there are thousands of people who still use it, and that means potential audiences to reach. Thank you for the links. Hope to hear from ya.

Tony,
What you say is so true. Though I might add, staying focused is essential, as the Internet is so distracting, you can often end up following breadcrumb links from one site to the next and forget the point of your search. Happens to me all the time. Hence the reason I didn’t retweet yesterday. Look forward to reading more on this subject.

I like the idea of spiral-viral marketing. You know I never considered the fact that just because you write great content, it doesn’t necessarily fall into the hands of the people who really need to read it. I look forward to going into 2010 on a spiral-viral tidal wave of traffic! Thanks Tony.
