Why so many people are obsessed with page rank I will never know. Perhaps it is to impress some CEO for ads revenue or something. But just like you say, we should concentrate more on quality content. It was once like a badge of honor to have PR 5 or above. I have 2 sites that are PR 5's and they were both PR 6 then google did there downgrade and they came down one. It did not effect my traffic at all as I am always on the 1st page for the keywords I target. PR rank will help you achieve this but it is not neccessary as you said. Well written article.
